JP2 Young Adults

Inspired by Saint John Paul II, we seek to be an intentional community that walks with each other on the journey towards Jesus Christ and to be a witness to those around us.

Growing in faith and community

JP2 Young Adults is a community of young adults (18-39ish) of the Jefferson City area, based out of the Cathedral of Saint Joseph.

We gather with a mission of building intentional relationships, we aim to grow closer to Christ, His Church, and each other through small groups and social events.

Small Groups

The model of discipleship Christ gave us in his formation of the Apostles shows the importance of community and life-sharing for a thriving spiritual life. Through small groups, we seek to build our young adult community through friendship with each other and faith formation in a group setting.

April 22, 2020 - Mobile Food Bank: We need volunteers to help at the mobile food bank at St. Martins parish from 2:45 to 5:30 (or whenever they run out of food). If you can help, please email Lauren Hildreth

June 6, 2020 - 3rd Annual Summer BBQ: We aren't calling it yet! We are looking forward to an opportunity to get together again so for now, the BBQ is still on. If we decide to postpone, we will let you know in upcoming newsletters.

Thanks to all who participated in the Better Together small group! Your valuable feedback in the discernment reports is being submitted to the diocese.

Small groups continue to meet virtually this spring. Like so many parts of society, we're adapting to virtual meetings and even social distancing has not hindered the community building taking place. A few of the groups have seen the positive impact of their little communities during this pandemic and intend to continue meeting beyond Lent to help each other through, at least as long as stay-at-home orders are in place.

Our prayer intention for this month is Bishop McKnight's April intention for our Local Church -

For a stronger sense of the mission of the Church, especially among our youth and young adults, in this time of pandemic and in our discernment of a new pastoral plan.

Our regular hour of adoration every Wednesday from 7-8pm at the Cathedral Adoration Chapel has been temporarily suspended, but please continue to pray for the mission of JP2 Young Adults!

JP2 is partnering with the Cathedral to form a Disaster Responders Team. We need volunteers to deliver groceries, make phone calls, and address other needs as they arise.

To sign up, use this form on the diocesan website. You can sign up with your parish, or join with the JP2 team by selecting “Jefferson City: St. Joseph Cathedral” in the drop-down list.

This month, JP2 would like to introduce you to our Social Events Coordinator, who manages all the planning and logistics for our social events. To find out about upcoming JP2 events, stay tuned to our newsletter or follow us on Facebook.

Jake Crider, Social Events Coordinator

Mr. Crider is new to the leadership team. A Helias grad and Jeff City native, he looks forward to learning, helping, and growing the JP2 movement.

The title comes from the Latin word crux which means “cross.” It follows the example of St. Paul, “to preach Christ crucified” so that others may come to know the love that God has for us. The word crux today also refers to a place of decision or turning point. We want this study to be an experience where the participants can gaze upon the cross of Jesus Christ and come to a decision about Him in their own lives.”

This summer we're gathering young adults who feel called to minister to their peers by leading a small group. This 6 week leadership training will cover important information for leading, provide discussion and hear from former leaders about their experiences.

If you are interested in joining, please contact Ashley Wiskirchen.
