Vocations Committee Meeting Minutes 1/14/20
- Opening Prayer
The Vocation Prayer lead by Louie Delk.
- Roll Call
In attendance: Louie Delk, Ginny Bockwinkel, Terry Vignola, Mary Ann Young, and John Poepsel.
- Approval of Minutes
The previous meeting minutes were approved.
IV. Report on Ongoing Activities
- Weddings:
There was one wedding in the month of December.
- Baptisms:
Congratulatory letters were sent to three families who had their children baptized
during December.
C. Cards for Priests, Deacons, Consecrated Religious and/or Seminarians:
Praying for You cards sent to priests, deacons, consecrated religious, and seminarians
during each of the five weekends in December.
Cards sent to all 8 Seminarians to inform them of the Mass intention for them on
Christmas Day at the 10 a.m. Mass.
Seven birthday and anniversary card also sent during December.
Reminder notice sent to Rosary Leaders for the Rosary for Vocations for January 2020.
- Budget:
There were no expenditures during the month of December. Stamps will need to be
purchased soon. Year-To-Date expenditures are $358.06
E . Christ the High Priest Icon:
There will be an announcement at the start of Mass and in the bulletin regarding the
Icon. Families are now signed up through February 6.
V. New Business:
- Upcoming Dates of Interest:
Coffee Bar on 1/26/2000. Ginny will help with the coffee. Donuts and milk will be picked up from Schulte’s. We will begin after the 8 a.m. Mass and then again after the 10 a.m. Mass. Two people will be adequate to help after each Mass. Sign up sheets for the Christ The High Priest icon will be available during the event.
- Snacks for Seminarians:
The Knights of Columbus have agreed to support this program. Gift cards will be sent
to seminarians.
- Adopt a Seminarian:
The report on the packets given to the 9 classes/student council participating in the Adopt a Seminarian Program sent to Vocation Committee members in December. Ryan Bax visited classrooms during the Christmas holiday.
- Coloring pages
Coloring pages reflecting the Gospel story are available in the Bride’s Room. Notices
will be placed in future bulletins.
- Called-By- Name Sunday
Called-By-Name is a parish program to promote vocations to the priesthood and
religious life by identifying those individuals who show potential for leadership and
service within our parish. The date for Called-By-Name is Sunday, January 26, 2020,
which is also the start of Catholic Schools Week. The committee believes that there
Is a very strong tie-in between the two events.
Key dates to support this important program are:
> January 11/12 announcement in the bulletin that Called-By-Name will occur
on the weekend of January 25/26.
> January 18/19 – a brief presentation by committee members to more fully
explain the program just prior to the following weekend Masses:
Sat 5:30 p.m. John Poepsel; Sun 8:00 a.m. Ginny Bockwinkel; 10 a.m. Louie Delk.
There will also be an announcement in the parish bulletin.
> January 25/26 – Announcement prior to Mass asking parishioners to consider
single men or women in our parish who they felt have qualities to become a
Priest, sister, or brother.
